What is the difference between a minor and major kitchen remodel?
A minor remodel generally refreshes visible surfaces and fixtures while retaining the basic layout and much of the existing cabinet structure. A major remodel replaces the core components and can include cabinetry, counters, appliances, lighting, and flooring. Moving walls or utilities creates additional uncertainty beyond either standard benchmark.
Why is the kitchen remodeling range so wide?
Kitchen costs are driven by scope and specifications more than by floor area alone. Cabinet construction, countertop material, appliance package, electrical and plumbing changes, permits, structural work, and finish quality can each move a real proposal substantially. The range is wide because pretending those unknowns do not exist would create false precision.
